Pedestrian Bridge, Laramie Rail Yard, Laramie, Wyoming

Pedestrian Bridge, Laramie Rail Yard, Laramie, Wyoming

I’ve previously posted two other photos of the pedestrian bridge over the rail yard in Laramie, Wyoming. The first one featured the bridge after sunset during blue hour, and the second one showed a big wide angle view of the bridge and the rail yard right before sunset. This is the third photo of the series, showing the motion of a train passing through the rail yard with a colorful sunset in the background.

When my company had a team trip to the Grand Tetons in 2016, I was super excited for the opportunity to see an incredibly beautiful mountain range. One of the activities we could choose was an early morning animal photography experience, where hypothetically we would get to see some of Wyoming’s extraordinary wildlife up close. This event turned out to be kind of a bust – we mostly stayed in a bus and drove around looking for wildlife. And while we got to see some animals here and there, it was tough taking great photos from a bus by the side of the road.

I mentioned when I posted my previous photo of this same pedestrian bridge that I had two other versions I would share in the future. Here’s version #2 (I’ll post #3 sometime in the future as well). It’s rare that I can’t decide between different versions of my photos – usually one is “right” and the others aren’t. With this photo, I’ve found things I like in each of the three.

My wife and I took a trip to Laramie for a horse show, and I took along my camera thinking I might try to take some photos. Laramie was originally settled as a rail town, and the downtown is situated right next to a spectacular rail yard where trains enter and leave on different tracks. This pedestrian bridge connects the two sides of Laramie across the rail yard, making it easy for people to walk from one side to the other.
